Honoring The Fallen: Boyd Bros. and Wreaths Across America

Post Date - Dec 27, 2022

At Boyd Bros. Transportation, we pride ourselves on being a career home that military veterans can thrive in. With our culture dedicated to support and our commitment to making our drivers feel like they’re a part of a family, we have created career pathways that lead veterans straight to success. A part of our consistent dedication to U.S. military service members is our participation in the annual Wreaths Across America event.

Wreaths Across America is a nationwide ceremony put on every third Saturday in December to further the mission of remembering our country’s fallen veterans, honoring their service, and teaching future generations the price of freedom. Each December, thousands of wreaths are laid across the graves of veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and at cemeteries across the nation where veterans are laid to rest. This year, Boyd Bros. was honored to deliver and lay wreaths on graves at Arlington and national cemeteries in Mississippi and Alabama.

We want to recognize the specific members of Boyd Bros. Transportation that make our participation in such a great event possible. Historically, Vice President of IT and Administration Elaine Maund and Facilities Manager Wade Gunter have participated in the laying of wreaths. In 2022, both professional drivers Alan Lawson and Layvester Packnett were instrumental in the safe and timely delivery of the wreaths.

“As a veteran myself, having the support of Boyd Bros. to participate in delivery of the wreaths for the laying ceremony with Wreaths Across America was an honor. Even as I’ve transitioned into civilian life, I’m still able to serve in this way,” Lawson said.
